1. Introduction

ClarityClock is a focus and productivity app designed to help users start focused sessions, block distracting apps, track progress, plan tasks, and build consistency over time.

This Privacy Policy explains what information ClarityClock collects, how it is used, how it is stored, how it is protected, and under what circumstances it may be shared. By using ClarityClock, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, ClarityClock may collect:

  • Email address
  • Login method (e.g. email and password, or OAuth provider)
  • User ID
  • Basic account details required to identify and manage your account

Focus Session Data

When you run focus sessions, ClarityClock collects:

  • Session mode (e.g. Deep Work, Rescue Me, Anti-Procrastination, Map Session)
  • Session duration
  • Start and end time
  • Completion status
  • Whether a session was broken or cancelled
  • Task name associated with the session
  • Session progress data

Calendar and Task Data

When you use the Calendar or task features, ClarityClock may collect:

  • Tasks created by you
  • Notes or details you enter
  • Planned sessions and selected dates
  • Completed tasks
  • Scheduling and planning details you provide

App Blocking Data

When you configure app blocking, ClarityClock collects:

  • Package names of apps you select to block
  • Block lists you create
  • Route Block List for Map sessions
  • Blocking preferences and session protection settings

ClarityClock does not read the content of other apps. When app blocking is enabled, ClarityClock only checks whether a user-selected blocked app has been opened during an active focus session, so it can show a focus protection screen.

Device and Technical Data

ClarityClock may collect basic technical information including:

  • Device type and model
  • Operating system version
  • App version
  • Crash logs and diagnostics, collected through Google Firebase Crashlytics to help us find and fix crashes
  • App usage and interaction data (such as which features are opened and general app activity), collected through Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it
  • Performance data used to improve reliability

Notification Data

To deliver reminder notifications reliably even when your phone is in battery-saving or sleep mode, ClarityClock registers a push notification token (provided by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) with your account, together with your device time zone and your chosen reminder time. This lets our server send the reminders you enabled — for example a daily focus reminder or a streak reminder — at the correct local time. Reminders are optional and can be turned off at any time in the app's settings.

Payment and Subscription Data

ClarityClock tracks your subscription status, plan type, trial state, and entitlement status in order to provide Premium features. Payments are processed by Google Play, the Apple App Store, or RevenueCat. ClarityClock does not directly process or store payment card details.

Support Data

If you contact support, ClarityClock may receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message.

3. How We Use Information

ClarityClock uses the information it collects to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Run and record focus sessions
  • Block user-selected apps during active protected sessions
  • Show Reports and Calendar progress
  • Save tasks and session history
  • Send optional reminder notifications based on your focus activity (for example, a daily focus reminder or a streak reminder). These may be delivered as push notifications from our server through Firebase Cloud Messaging, and can be turned off in settings
  • Manage Premium access and subscription entitlements
  • Understand how features are used, through aggregate analytics, to improve the app
  • Improve app reliability and fix bugs
  • Provide customer support
  • Prevent abuse or fraud
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

4. Android Accessibility Permission

ClarityClock may request the Android Accessibility Service permission in order to support its app blocking functionality.

This permission is used specifically to detect when a user-selected blocked app is opened during an active focus session. When that happens, ClarityClock displays a focus protection overlay to remind the user to return to their session.

ClarityClock does not use Accessibility permission to read messages, passwords, screen content, private conversations, payment information, or personal content inside other apps.

The Accessibility Service is active only while ClarityClock is running a protected focus session. It is not used to monitor general device activity outside of session protection.

5. Android Overlay Permission

ClarityClock may request permission to display over other apps (Draw Over Other Apps permission).

This permission is used solely to show the focus protection screen when a blocked app is opened during an active session. The overlay appears to remind the user to return to their session and does not record, capture, or transmit any content from the screen.

6. Local Storage and Cloud Storage

To let you keep your progress when you sign in on a new device, some data is synced to your account through Supabase, our third-party backend and authentication provider. Synced to your account:

  • Account information (email, login method, user ID)
  • Focus session history — mode, duration, start and end times, and completion status
  • Map progression and streak/statistics derived from your sessions
  • App block lists and the Route Block List (the app package names you choose to block and the list names you create)
  • Your push notification token, device time zone, and reminder on/off setting and time — used only to send the reminder notifications you enabled

The following data is stored only on your device and is not synced to our servers. It stays on the device it was created on and is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage:

  • Task names and notes you type, and calendar/task details
  • App preferences and other on-device settings
  • Onboarding and tutorial progress
  • Premium status and entitlement state (verified through your app store / RevenueCat)

Task names and notes are kept on your device by design and are never sent to our servers. Because of this, if you reinstall the app or switch devices, your sessions and progress return, but the custom names you gave individual tasks do not.

Premium entitlement is verified through payment services such as RevenueCat, Google Play Billing, and the Apple App Store.

7. Third-Party Services

ClarityClock relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each service has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data.

  • Supabase — authentication and backend data storage
  • Google Firebase — push notification delivery (Cloud Messaging), crash reporting (Crashlytics), and usage analytics (Analytics)
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase entitlement verification
  • Google Play Billing — Android payment processing
  • Apple App Store — iOS payment processing

ClarityClock does not integrate advertising networks or sell data to third-party advertisers.

8. Data Sharing

ClarityClock does not sell your personal data.

Data may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With service providers necessary to operate the app (e.g. Supabase, Google Firebase, RevenueCat)
  • To comply with applicable laws or legal processes
  • To prevent abuse, fraud, or harm
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public
  • With your explicit consent

9. Data Retention

ClarityClock retains data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app and its features.

Some data stored locally on your device will remain until you delete the app, clear the app's storage, or request deletion.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. See our Delete Account page for step-by-step instructions and details of what is deleted or kept, or contact support at clarityclocksupport@gmail.com.

10. User Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data. You can:

  • Access or update certain account information within the app
  • Manage platform permissions in your device settings at any time, including Android Accessibility and Overlay permissions where applicable
  • Delete local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage
  • Cancel your Premium subscription through Google Play or the App Store
  • Request account or data deletion by contacting support

11. Children's Privacy

ClarityClock is not intended for children under the minimum age required by applicable law in their region. ClarityClock does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal data to ClarityClock, please contact clarityclocksupport@gmail.com and the data will be reviewed and removed promptly.

12. Security

ClarityClock uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

No system or method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While ClarityClock works to protect your data, it cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. International Data Processing

ClarityClock and its third-party service providers may process data in countries other than the country where you are located. By using the app, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in other countries.

14. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the Last updated date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.

Continued use of ClarityClock after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If the changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users.
